Mon-El Green Lantern

well the green lanturn movie is comming out tommorrow and instead of doing the usual fan art for it i decided to do something different. in the current storyline of legion of super heroes they have made the character Mon-el a green lanturn and i love his costume and this dynamic turn for this character.
i referenced some art from the masters jim lee and michael turner to get this piece together. i hope i put enough of myself in this to make it my own i believe i did.

my best friend asked me recently to draw a pic of rouge from xmen fighting he-man . i wanted to make the piece extra special for him. i think i captured a great action pose here. this was colored in copic marker and accented with a white prismacolor pencil. hope you like this piece

yes i did reference a drawing done by rob liefeld for this piece because i really liked the action pose. i think i changed the idea of the drawing enough to call it my own.

this is a very special deviation for me for a number of reasons. one it is of the women of x-men as they looked in the 80's when i was a child this is how they looked when i fell in love with the comic.
also this is my 300th submission to my gallery my 300th deviation. when i started here 4 1/2 years ago i never thought i'd have a gallery with 300 works in it, so it makes me very happy.
so above we have clockwise from the top Storm,Marvel Girl, Psylocke (before her transformation), Rouge. Dazzler.
this incarnation was alot more fun to methen the modern day group back then the world didn't know of the x-men through movies and cartoons and the stories were alot more fun and free.

this piece was colored with copic markers and highlighted with a prisma color white pencil.

well it's finally finished i started his piece quite some time ago and kept comming back to it but never finished it. i saw these images online seprately and thought they would make a great portrait drawn together. this piece was a bit of a challenge and really took me out of my comfort zone. i'm not typically a portrait pencil artist but i had alot of fun with this.
one thing i did very differently was using a white prisma color pencil for blending and highlighting. it gave the piece a much more glowy magical look. i'm glad i was able to complete this homage to one of the best comic movies i've seen inna while.
personally i think thor came out beer then loki what do you think.

i was reading the Danger Girl Ultimate Collection recently and enjoyed it very much. i was very taken with the character deuce who is the danger girls leader and is loosly based on sean conery in his older james bond era.
the cover of danger girl issue 2 titled "bubblelicious" has abby chase naked in a bubble covered pool. i thought it would be cool to put deuce in the same type of environment.
this piece was all colored in copic marker highlighted with a white prisma color pencil.
the bubbles were a pain but so worth it. i know this will not be everyone's cup of tea but i hope most enjoy this.

well i've kinda been on a male nude kick again. this is one that just came to me one day thought i would be a fun piece to try.
here we have peter parker cought with his pants down trying to change into his spiderman out fit. i have in the background a spot light of sorts kind of like a bat signal but is a spider man style. maybe it's being shined upon him from a helicopter up above.
this piece was colored entirely in copic markers and accented with a whie prisma color pencil
the webbing took alot of work also making the signal look like it was a reflected image took some time.
now some may find this funny, some may find it sexy, some may not like it but what ever reaction i get i hope it puts a smile on someoes face today.

well hello everyone it's been almost 2 months since my last art submission. why so long you ask? well i've started my first relationship and that takes up alot more of my free time then i ever thought it would. but i've enjoyed having someone here at home to take care of and take care of me.
but i don't know how much time i'm going to have for artwork any more, but it's totally worth the trade off. this one i've been workin on and off on my lunch breaks at work. this is to commemorate the relaunch of the new justice leauge comic, drawn of course by comic master jim lee.
the comic looks amazing the story dosn't have me thrilled yet but it has potential.
this collage of heads composes the new team in they're new costumes which i like very much.
this was colored in copic markers i hope i havn't lost my touch what do you think?

hi everyone man havn't drawn anything in ages just finished this one on my lunch breaks at work. gotta love ole supes
did this one in pencil,copic markers,prisma color grey scale markers warm and grey, and a prisma color white color pencil.
tried some different things with the clouds hope they came out.

well if you have been someone who has watched my gallery you may have noticed i have been drawing alot
less laltly. there's a number of reasons for that but the skill is still with me.
one thing i devoted much of my free time to was creating this keep sake chest for my father for christmas.
i took some scrap lumber from where i work i black laqured it and put a clear laquer over that. i bought brass corners and a brass lion head handle to put on the top from china.
i spray painted all the molding and nailed and glued it all around the edges. and painted the wooden feet gold as well.
swartzki crystals were added to the brass accents on the front of the box and on the handle.
he really liked it when i gave it to him and that what counts the most. hopefully i will be posting some drawn art soon but for now here's my first journey into 3d wooden art.

here's my first new work of 2012. i havn't been drawing much latly for a variety of reasons(can you say Sky Rim / DC Universe?). i have been working on this one on my lunch breaks at work the past few weeks. i drew my version of captian america, it's been awhile since i have submitted a clean black & white hope to color it in the future. hope you like it.

hello all i uploaded the B&W version of this last week been working furiously to get it colored had a wonderful time doing it. old glory gave me fits though especially the stars. but end the end i think i got across what i wanted to convey what do you think?

prisma color grey scale warm and cool grey markers
prisma color white color pencil for high lights
colored on vellum bristol board

well since this is Avengers VS. Xmen month i think it's a great time to unveil this piece i have been working on for awhile. this is Scarlet Witch of Avengers VS. Evil Lyn of the old He-Man cartoon.
my process takes a long time on these types of drawings. first i sketch it, then i draw it off on a fresh paper with a light box, then i print it off on a printer, then color the print with copic markers accented with prisma color pencils and the augmented in corel painter with a wacom bamboo tablet.
my boy friend pick out this pair and he will be getting the framed original love ya cubby.
he had also pick out he-man verses rouge below.

i usually don't post these till they are colored but i was pretty happy with how this one looked in black and white so i decided to post it now before i colored it.
this is X-FACTOR circa 1988, the way i remembered them from my childhood. in some ways i liked this version of the team best.
Beast,Cyclops,Marvel Girl,Angel,and Iceman.
i tried to capture the true essence of these characters from this time with these head shots i hope i did well what do you think?

well i finally got my classic xfactor artwork colored on my day off. this art is very close to my heart because this is the way these characters looked when i was growing up. there was so many cool and interesting stories containg these characters. and i really loved these costumes
of course we have here
MARVEL GIRL, CYCLOPS , BEAST, ICEMAN AND ANGEL.

this piece was colored with copic markers and highlighted by a white prisma colored pencil.
